Our Story

Fish Shop is a celebration of the fishing communities and traditions that are at the heart of Chesapeake Bay, reflecting our mission to bring together food, culture and community. Originating in Ballater, Scotland, we have blended our ethos and traditions with the unique offering of DC.

Our modern and relaxed bar and restaurant seats 180, including 3 private dining rooms.

Sit at the bar with a cocktail, tuck into a seafood lunch in our restaurant or hire one of our private rooms for a special event.

Our menu is focused on shellfish and day boat fish that is led by the seasons and abundant in the area, with the addition of select meat and vegetables from surrounding farms. Choose from the à la carte or our weekday pre show menu, or join us for happy hour on the patio.

Fish Shop is open Tuesday to Friday for lunch and dinner, and Saturday to Sunday for brunch and dinner. Get in touch today to plan your visit with us.

Whether you’re stopping by for a quick bite, a working lunch, or a leisurely meal with friends and family, there’s something to suit every pace.

Open for lunch Tuesday to Friday, opt for our à la carte menu, or opt for our lunchtime set menu: 2 courses for $24, or 3 courses for $28.

Celebrate DC Cherry Blossom Season

Every year, the Yoshino trees around Washington DC burst into full bloom, marking the arrival of cherry blossom season across the capital.

To celebrate National Cherry Blossom Festival from March 20th to April 12th, our chef has created a four-course prix fixe menu bringing together the fresh catch and local produce of the Chesapeake Bay region with the delicate flavours of Japanese spring cuisine.

Sustainability at Fish Shop

Fish Shop in Washington DC celebrates small, local producers and fresh seasonal ingredients.

Working with a carefully selected collective of fishermen, we supply responsibly caught fish and shellfish from the Potomac River and the surrounding mid-Atlantic area. All our meat and vegetables are locally sourced.

Our bar and restaurant is committed to being low-waste from initial build-out to packaging; everything has been designed with minimum environmental impact in mind.
