What are your opening hours?

Brunch
Saturday and Sunday, 11am – 2.30pm

Lunch
Monday to Friday, 11.30am – 3pm

Monday to Thursday and Sunday, 5pm – 9pm
Friday and Saturday, 5pm – 10pm

Opening hours may vary on public holidays – please inquire in advance.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards. If you’re planning something specific (cash/contactless/etc.), feel free to ask the team when you arrive.

Is Fish Shop accessible to guests with reduced mobility?

Yes, the restaurant has ADA-compliant accessibility. If you’d like any assistance on arrival, contact the team in advance so we can coordinate smoothly.

Is Fish Shop family friendly?

Yes, we are a family-friendly establishment. Children and babies are welcome, we have a children’s menu and high chairs available upon request.

Is there a dress code?

Although there is no strict dress code for Fish Shop, we recommend smart-casual attire. If you have any specific questions about attire for special events, please contact us.

Are gift cards available?

How do I get to Fish Shop?

You’ll find Fish Shop on Water Street Southwest at the Southern end of The Wharf on Water Street. Adjacent to Poetry & Prose and Pluma Bakery and opposite Arena Stage, it’s just a 6 minute walk from the Waterfront Metro Station and moments from many bus stations. There are several public parking garages along The Wharf, including the Atlantic Car Park underneath the building, but public transport is very easy and our recommended route.

Is there parking available?

There are several public parking garages along The Wharf, including Wharf Garage 3 which is in the same building but public transport is very easy (5 minute walk to Waterfront metro) and our recommended route as there can be limited availability.

Is Fish Shop located on the waterfront?

Yes, situated at the end of The Wharf, Fish Shop offers stunning views of the Potomac river from both the patio and the restaurant. If you’re looking for the perfect sunset spot, the Fish Shop terrace is the place to be.

Does Fish Shop offer outdoor seating?

Fish Shop has plenty of outdoor seating on our patio that runs the length of the restaurant and overlooks The Potomac. In the winter, the glass fronted floor to ceiling windows allow for views of the water even from inside.

Can I just come for a drink?

Yes absolutely, you are more than welcome to have a seat at the bar for a drink – choose from our cocktail menu and our extensive wine and spirits list. We also have special happy hour menu available on weekdays.

Does Fish Shop serve cocktails?

Fish Shop has a selection of signature cocktails and mocktails, inspired by our Scottish roots with an American twist. Our signature negroni, the Hardy Negroni uses the invasive succulent the Hardy Ice plant inspired by our sister restaurant’s Samphire Negroni. In the summer we have a select spritzes added to the menu, and if it’s classic cocktails you’re looking for, just ask the bar team.

Does Fish Shop offer happy hour?

Fish Shop has Happy Hour every Tuesday to Friday from 3pm – 6pm. Our version of Happy Hour is Gilded Hour, named for the magical quality of light that dapples onto our bar during that time. You’ll find $10 cocktails and wines by the glass, $2 oysters and a selection of Gilded Hour snacks. On the last Wednesday of every month during Gilded Hour, join us for Shuck and Sip where one of our Oysters suppliers will come and shuck your oysters straight to order.

Do you accommodate dietary restrictions?

Yes, we can accommodate dietary restrictions. Our team will also guide you through menu options to help you make informed decisions. Feel free to call or email us to discuss dietary restrictions before dining in.

Is Fish Shop available for exclusive buyouts or large private events?

Yes Fish Shop has 3 private dining rooms which are available to hire individually. The restaurant itself is available for partial or exclusive buyouts, including events on our patio. For more information see our group dining and private events page here.

 

Are private dining rooms available for corporate dinners and group events?

Yes, from our Boat Room to the Ballater Rooms, each of our private dining rooms has its own story to tell and can be adapted to suit corporate meetings, lunches and dinners (with AV capability in the Boat Room), or for more personal events. Find more details on each of our private rooms here.

Can I bring my own cake?

Yes, we will present the cake and our culinary team will cut slices for $5/person.

Do you allow decorations in the private dining rooms?

Yes, on a case by case basis. Please reach out to events team before your event.

Do you host public events?

We put on a variety of events for guests to attend including celebrations of big calendar events such as Harvest Moon, Fourth of July and Burns Night to more intimate events such as wine tasting dinners in our private rooms and special menus such as Restaurant Week Menu and Valentine’s Day. Is Fish Shop DC considered a fine dining restaurant?

Fish Shop is not a fine dining restaurant. We offer the highest quality food in a relaxed atmosphere, guests can choose to come for a quick bite or for those looking for a more upscale experience then we have our signature chef’s menu.

Does Fish Shop serve a lunch menu?

Fish Shop has a set lunch menu available on weekdays offering 2 coruses for $24 or 3 courses for $28.

Does Fish Shop offer a tasting menu or set menu?

For those who want to taste the best of Fish Shop, choose our Chef’s Menu of four courses for $95, with optional wine pairings available. We also have a set lunch available during the week for $24 for 2 courses or $28 for 3 courses, and a quick weekday pre-show menu for $40

Does Fish Shop serve brunch, and what is included on the menu?

Fish Shop is open for brunch every weekend from 11am until 2.30pm, serving brunch classics such as eggs, French Toast and Johnny Cakes to Fish Shop favorites such as Smoked Trout Benedict and our sharing Seafood Boil. For those looking for lunchier items, you’ll find our classic lobster roll, catfish sandwich and all your favorite snacks and appetizers.

Where does Fish Shop source its fish and seafood from?

Fish Shop sources fish and seafood from the Mid-Atlantic, prioritizing produce that comes from the Chesapeake Bay and surrounding areas. We are led by the seasons and focus on what is readily available and ethically caught. We source fish using only specific methods such as rod and line, gill net, pound net and bow and arrow from fishermen that we know and trust. You can find out more details here

Is it possible to have a private tour of the artwork on display at Fish Shop?

Yes, with advance notice and subject to room and team availability, we are more than happy to accommodate a private tour of art at Fish Shop.

Dogs and other pets

Can I bring my dog to Fish Shop?

Service animals are always welcome. For pets, availability depends on seating and the current setup. Please call ahead to confirm before bringing your pet.
